3 Point super serum firmness test
In order to confirm firming properties of Olay Regenerist 3 Point Super Serum, two clinical studies were placed at two independent European laboratories (Cutest Systems Limited, Cardiff, UK and Proderm Institute for Applied Dermatological Research, Hamburg, Germany) in May and September 2010 respectively. The laboratories conducted blinded, randomised clinical firmness tests which compared Olay Regenerist 3 Point Super Serum firming properties with La Prairie Cellular Serum Platinum Rare on the face and the back of the hand.
Conclusion
- Olay Regenerist 3 Point Super Serum provides the same level of cosmetic skin firmness as the La Prairie Cellular Serum Platinum Rare.
Methodology
14 day Cutometer study conducted in the UK, May 2010.
The Cutometer (C&K 575 skin elasticity meter) measures the vertical deformation of the skin when it is pulled by means of a controlled vacuum and the amount of rebound. The amount of rebound is a good indication of overall skin condition and is linked to quality of collagen and Elastin as well as hydration level. The consumer experiences an increase in amount of rebound as an improvement in skin firmness.
Both studies comprised 3 investigative legs:
- A) Olay Regenerist 3 Point Super Serum
- B) La Prairie Cellular Serum Platinum Rare
- C) Untreated control site.
TEST 1: 14-Day Back of Hand Firmness Study, UK, May 2010.

- 30 Females (35 – 65 years of age) were recruited as panelists.
- The study was conducted on the back of the hand of the 30 women in a randomized incomplete block placement design.
- R5 and R7 measurements were taken at baseline and after 7 and 14 days usage (before application)
- 2µlcm-2 of test product was applied twice daily to the test site. Application and Cutometer readings were made under fully controlled conditions.
TEST 2: 14-Day Face Firmness Study, Germany, September 2010.

- 40 Females (35 – 65 years of age) were recruited as panelists.
- The study was conducted on the face of the 40 women in a randomized incomplete block placement design.
- R5 and R7 measurements were taken at baseline and after 7 and 14 days usage (before application)
- 2µlcm-2 of test product was applied twice daily to the test site. Application and Cutometer readings were made under fully controlled conditions.

Test 2:
The study demonstrated no significant difference between the cosmetic firming effects of Olay Regenerist 3 Point Super Serum and La Prairie Cellular Serum Platinum Rare on facial skin, with both products demonstrating significantly improved skin elasticity compared to untreated control.
Clinical Study

In order to confirm hydration properties of Olay regenerist 3 point treatment cream an extensive test has been placed in an independent laboratory (Cutest Systems Limited, Cardiff, UK). This laboratory conducted a series of clinical hydration tests which compared Olay regenerist 3 point treatment cream to the most expensive face cream (average sale price over GBP/£ 100) of relevant prestige brands.
Conclusion
- Olay regenerist 3 point treatment cream hydrated significantly better (p<0.05) than the 23 products tested.
- Olay regenerist 3 point treatment cream hydrated significantly better at 12 and 24 hours than tested products.
Methodology
Studies conducted June-September 2008
- 160 Females (18 years +) were recruited as panelists. Each panelist was treated with 5 cosmetic products.
- Test moisturisers were applied 2 µL/cm2 and skin hydration measurement were conducted using a Courage & Khazaka GMBh Corneometer)
- Statistical analysis of results was conducted to confirm hydration performance. Significant differences were evaluated where p < 0.05
